Description / Volumetric Analysis Report
Volumetric Analysis Report — Image-Based Volume Estimation
The Volumetric Analysis Report uses computer vision to convert 2D photographs of loaded bins into 3D volume estimates, accounting for the air gaps that naturally occur between randomly stacked pieces of construction wood waste. This analysis improves weight accuracy beyond the standard density formula by incorporating actual fill characteristics.
Standard volumetric assumptions treat bins as uniformly filled, but real-world wood waste loads contain significant void space. Long dimensional lumber creates large air gaps, while smaller debris packs more densely. The Gemma 4 visual analysis estimates actual fill density by analyzing load imagery from the Compliance Gate camera, producing a fill factor that adjusts the standard 174 kg/m³ density assumption.
The report documents: bin dimensions and nominal volume, photographic fill analysis with AI-identified void regions, estimated fill percentage (typically 65-85% for wood waste), adjusted weight calculation using actual fill factor, comparison against scale-verified weight (when available), and trending data for recurring clients and site types.
Volumetric accuracy matters because every tonne of variance affects three calculations simultaneously: the client invoice (net weight billing), the CIRCIL Levy assessment (per-tonne), and the Carbon Dividend yield (per dry tonne). Over thousands of loads per year, systematic volumetric errors compound into material financial impact for both 905WOOD and clients.
