Description / Route Optimization Report

Route Optimization Report — Density Engineering for Waste Logistics

The Route Optimization Report applies density engineering principles to wood waste collection routing across the Hamilton and Greater Toronto Area service territory. By optimizing collection sequences and hub routing, this analysis directly impacts the cost-per-tonne KPI that underpins 905WOOD's competitive pricing advantage.

The hub-and-spoke model routes collection vehicles through geographic clusters, minimizing empty miles between pickups and maximizing payload density per route. For the fleet of 50 Walking Floor trailers (144-yard capacity, ~18.8 tonnes per load), even small routing improvements compound into significant cost savings across hundreds of monthly loads.

The report includes: optimal collection sequence by geographic cluster, estimated versus actual route distance and time, payload utilization percentage per vehicle per route, hub allocation logic (nearest processing node selection), driver hours compliance tracking, and fuel cost optimization analysis. Routes are dynamically adjusted based on real-time factors including traffic conditions, site access constraints, and processing hub capacity.

Route utilization percentage is one of the six primary KPIs tracked by the Digital Refinery. Higher utilization means more tonnes moved per dollar spent on transportation — which directly improves the unit economics that enable competitive Decoupled Billing pricing for clients while maintaining healthy margins.
