Chain of Custody Certificate — Hardware-Attested Traceability
The Chain of Custody Certificate creates an unbroken, cryptographically verified trail from the moment wood waste is classified at the Compliance Gate through final disposition. This is the backbone document of the Digital Refinery's audit trail, providing regulatory-grade traceability that meets the evidentiary standards required for Ontario environmental compliance proceedings.
Each certificate is bound through the Hold-to-Seal protocol: a 2.0-second haptic press on the Pixel 10 Pro triggers a hardware attestation via the Titan M2 security chip. This creates a non-repudiable timestamp and device identity binding that cannot be spoofed, forged, or post-dated. The Titan M2 attestation serves as the cryptographic anchor for the entire chain of custody.
The certificate tracks: origin classification (clean/treated/high-risk) with AI model version, physical custody transfers between operators, transport vehicle identification and route, hub arrival timestamp and sensor readings (XRF/NIR when applicable), processing disposition (biocarbon feedstock, secondary recycling, or landfill), and final weight reconciliation.
For Ontario general contractors and waste generators, the Chain of Custody Certificate provides defensible proof that waste was properly handled throughout its lifecycle. Under the upcoming REWOOD extended producer responsibility framework and escalating CIRCIL Levy regime, this documentation becomes increasingly valuable as regulators shift enforcement focus from landfills to generators.
